Sneak Peek!

Us at 30 weeks by Frank&Charis Photography taken at Botanical Garden

12 December 2013

Congrats Charm!

Charm completed her first every full marathon!  At if I weren't pregnant I would have joined her too!  Lol.  I can't believe it's been a year since I ran my first full marathon.  I know that feeling of accomplishing such a big feat that I just had to be there for her at the finish line!

Imagine running a full marathong at 7 months pregnant. Hahha no way!  I can hardly walk jk!

Anyways,  I can't wait to get back into the running scene again!

Not Bad!

Hey I've been blogging consistently for the first 3 months of this year! Tap on my back yay. HAHA...

I've been having fun :)

Smores Please!

I first discovered smores from Laksh and Rochael during one of the few BBQ's I have had with them.  It doesn't turn out as neat ast the picture above but it's really good.

Basically you need buscuits and small sized cadbury chocolates. Oh and of course marshmallows!  Stick the marshmallows on a stick and roast it over the fire until when you press it you can feel it's really soft inside.  Drop it on a biscuit add the chocolates on top and finish it wiht another biscuit so it's like a sandwhich. If the chocolates are already at room temperature and they come in contact with the hot marshmallows they will melt...what a divine combination....

Take a big bite!  Prepare to get sticky fingers...heheh...it's soo good!

It's irresistible for a sweet tooth like me :)

I got a little gift today. Totally love it!

Fruits!

Gaaahhh I'm practically slacking on my blogging it's becoming so last minute and it's only march haha.

Anywyas, my house is around 30 minutes away from the Singapore and Malaysia border.

Yesterday a few of us from church went across to JB to eat and shop and just enjoy not being in Singapore haha.

I absolutely love their fruits with sambal hitam (black chili sauce) and their prune powder. I had it like 2 or 3 times in the few hours I was there.

Basically you just pick and put fruits ( mango, guava, etc) and let them add the sauce and I put the prune powder and mix it all up. It's divine!

I only knew about this when my sister went to Malaysia years ago and she kept on saying how much she loved it.

Accomplishment of my lifetime

I actually did it! I ran a 10k!

I finished in 1hr 20mins. My goal was to run/jog without walking and to finish no later than 1hr 30mins! Which i did . So I am proud of myself.

Bayu and I crossed the finish line together holding hands raised in victory. Hahaha. There was an official photographer so hopefully we will get to see that picture.

It really is so different running in a race and running on my own. The following quote may give you a little idea:

"there is something about the ritual of the race - putting on the number, lining up, being timed - that brings out the best in us." - Grete Waitz

There were a few thousand people there and it was just so exciting to see other people there for the same purpose.

I had fun checking out what shoes people were wearing hehe.

Running a long distance race is really not about winning somebody else but winning your own race against yourself and your mind, taking one breath and one step at a time

The weird/cool thing I noticed was that when running, you are with a huuuuge crowd of people but it's so quiet and you can just hear shoes against the pavement and people breathing. Everyone is really focused and in the zone.

It was just a wonderful experience. It was also really hot. We ran at 8.15 and I only train in the evenings so I wasn't used to that.

Well, those were my thoughts and feelings. I really never imagined I would enjoy long distance running.

I don't even know if this can be added to my "never say never" list because in the first place I never imagined it because it was beyond imagination!

Well, enough babbling. Here are some pictures: frank was with us too so that made it even more fun.

I didn't get any pictures during the run even though the view was really nice.

Oh yeah I was so excited and so happy with my accomplishment I rank it at the top with my wedding and graduation (or maybe I'm just crazy from runners high lol). I couldn't sleep last night too excited.

And the response on Facebook was really overwhelming and loving :)

For Sister!

Bayu and I went for a run. We brought our ATM card because we planned to go grocery shopping. Towards the end of the run it dropped out of Bayu's pocket but 2 angel runners behind us picked it up. The evening could have turned out very differently.

I have reached half a year since I picked up my new hobby of running ( July 10,2011).

I have slacked in the morning devotion, eating healthy and eating a good breakfast department so I decided I will start now or it will be never.

Also next week i start my 12 week training for the half marathon.

So I have planned for breakfast and my snacking. Cereal/bread and salad. For snacking/dessert:juice,nuts,fruits,yoghurt...

This should last me a week or two...probably a week or a few days haha.

One small box of nuts I'll keep in my bag the other in my classroom. Fruits are for after breakfast at work coz I don't think I have time to eat a whole course at home.

I bought 2 cereals: whole wheat Cheerios and cocoa and hazelnut. Havnt tried them yet. It's something new.

This post is mostly dedicated to my sister who loves these kinds of food and who makes me appreciate that I can find these kinds of food here in Singapore at prices much cheaper than in Thailand.

Cheers! Trying to make healthiness (Spiritually and physically) a lifestyle...my lifestyle...our lifestyle...

High Tech

Bayu and I applied for online banking.  So basically you apply online and then 3 days later in the mail they send this gadget thing where when you press the button some numbers come up and that is your password for the day (or when you log in to your internet bank).  So yeah! I just thought that was "cool" Muahaha.

Starbucks Christmas

I bought Starbuck's Signature Hot Chocolate last night
and they have changed the designs of their cups already...

It's almost Christmas!  I'm so excited =)

03 October 2010

I "baked" a Diaper Cake!

I've been planning (with the help of good friends) for Doca's baby shower and it finally happened!

All went well without any disasters (major disasters).

Here is the gift from Bayu and I.  It was pretty easy to assemble! It was my first time and I was kinda nervous but it turned out just great.  I loved it!  Even though it wasn't for me haha.

Basically it's made from rolled up diapers wrapped around in ribbons and decorated with baby stuff.  All put together to look like a cake (a 3 tiered one at that!)

Not as simple to make as it looks!  But if I can do it anybody can...trust me!
Close up =)

WELCOME TO HOLLAND

by
Emily Perl Kingsley.

I am often asked to describe the experience of raising a child with a disability - to try to help people who have not shared that unique experience to understand it, to imagine how it would feel. It's like this......

When you're going to have a baby, it's like planning a fabulous vacation trip - to Italy. You buy a bunch of guide books and make your wonderful plans. The Coliseum. The Michelangelo David. The gondolas in Venice. You may learn some handy phrases in Italian. It's all very exciting.

After months of eager anticipation, the day finally arrives. You pack your bags and off you go. Several hours later, the plane lands. The stewardess comes in and says, "Welcome to Holland."

"Holland?!?" you say. "What do you mean Holland?? I signed up for Italy! I'm supposed to be in Italy. All my life I've dreamed of going to Italy."

But there's been a change in the flight plan. They've landed in Holland and there you must stay.

The important thing is that they haven't taken you to a horrible, disgusting, filthy place, full of pestilence, famine and disease. It's just a different place.

So you must go out and buy new guide books. And you must learn a whole new language. And you will meet a whole new group of people you would never have met.

It's just a different place. It's slower-paced than Italy, less flashy than Italy. But after you've been there for a while and you catch your breath, you look around.... and you begin to notice that Holland has windmills....and Holland has tulips. Holland even has Rembrandts.

But everyone you know is busy coming and going from Italy... and they're all bragging about what a wonderful time they had there. And for the rest of your life, you will say "Yes, that's where I was supposed to go. That's what I had planned."

And the pain of that will never, ever, ever, ever go away... because the loss of that dream is a very very significant loss.

But... if you spend your life mourning the fact that you didn't get to Italy, you may never be free to enjoy the very special, the very lovely things ... about Holland.

Field Trip

Our class the Hua Hin class went on a field trip today - to Central World. WooHoo! When I was doing my internship, as well as education in college, I thought I was training to be with little kids. I am with little kids but this term I was put with the big kids! It's been great so far, a bumpy ride, but great.

Well, you must be wondering what crazy teachers will bring their students to Central World for a field trip. Well the students and especially us the teachers need a new atmosphere for once and just some general experience. Alot of these kids still need help in social situations. But mainly it's also because they've been learning percentage in math and we bring them to learn about percentage through sales in Central World. So we made a worksheet for them to list items, their original price, percentage off, sale price and VAT.

We just arrived! We stayed from 10.30 am - 2.00 pm

Going up, up and up to check out the prices.

Advise for all. Before you bring a big group to do abnormal things (like bringing clipboards and going into shops to look at prices and jotting them down and not buying anything) contact the main office first to get a permission slip or a tag like I have on my shirt. Then the bouncers won't kick you out! That's what we learned today.

That's my partner teacher Mollel with Tum and New.
In the B2S bookstore they had this Audio Book Room For the Blind. The lady inside was reading and recording what she was saying for future reference.

New, Leo and Mollel

Education is not just in the classroom!

Lunch Time! Pizza Time!
The sign in the restaurant we ate in.

James and I. James is studying for his GEDs.
He's got one exam left. Math. Please pray for him!

James and his Pizza. He taught me how to eat pizza with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Yummmm.

This has nothing to do with the field trip but I put up for RJ and Cathy. This is the back gate of EIS. I was waiting for Hazel in the car after work.

Sunscreen

The song playing now is one I heard years and years ago.

Baz Luhrmann
Everybody's Free (to Wear Sunscreen)

I loved that song back then and when it wasn't popular anymore I never heard it again and never thought I would - until now. Thanks to the wonders of the internet!

There's a link below the mp3 player you can click on and read the lyrics if you have no time to listen to the whole song.

Care to Join?

I came across this. Sounds like something worthwhile. I mean why not?

Tag! You're it!

I was watching Christine on happyslip.com.
Her and her youtube buddies were playing a game of tag.
I will start it here too on the blog - blog tag!
It goes like this.
1. Tell everybody 5 facts about yourself. Usually something unique or that you think few people know about you.
2. At the end of your facts. Tag 5 people (list their names down) and those people who are tagged will write 5 facts about themselves and tag 5 other people and so on and so forth!
Understood?

lovelylerie's 5 facts
1. My right shoulder is constantly aching.
2. The degree for my contact lens are -5.00 in my left eye and -3.75 on my right eye. I'm thinking that it has to do with being lefthanded. I have astigmatism too.
3. I have a heart-shaped birthmark.
4. I have a dot/mole in my left pupil. I made a bet with my sister that the guy who notices it is the one I will marry.
5. I have had a colonscopy done on me. (Do your research if you don't know what that is!)

I Tag.....
1. Shimona
2. RJ
3. Sonya
4. Chervie
5. Daron
